KFOS ORGANIZATION

Kosovo Foundation for Open Society is a local and non-governmental organization, being part of the international network of foundations financed by philanthropist George Soros. Since December 1999, KFOS is a legally registered NGO under UNMIK legislation. The Network of Soros Foundations has been present in Kosovo since 1993.

In 2015, RoLAG received a donation from the KFOS Organization for the implementation of the project “Involving society in providing European Integration in the field of Rule of Law, mostly enhancing transparency, accountability and awareness raising”.

The project aimed at contributing to enhancing transparency and accountability in the European integration process by involving society at large, and non-governmental organizations in particular in applying the criteria arising from the Stabilization and Association Agreement to the Chapter on Justice, Freedom and Security and the requirements under Chapters 23 and 24 of the EU Acquis related to the rule of law.

In order to be as efficient and effective as possible, RoLAG has taken several steps into raising the awareness of the society. RoLAG has done an in-depth analysis of the SAA parts which lie in to the Rule of Law and Security sector. Furthermore, through comprehensive approach, institutional officials and members of the civil society that work in the field of law were consulted. As a result of this process, a report that contains all the obligations and achievements including challenges and the concrete recommendations for the relevant institutions was written.
